An Ancient Discovery

One autumn day at Fort Lyonhall, an unnerving and most peculiar event occurred - one which now threw everything the Citizens of Draile knew about their past into question. History intwined with the present and together they brought to light a long kept secret of the land they now called home.

Knight Commander Syr Alaric Grimwalde informed the Citizens at Fort Lyonhall of a most bewildering discovery: during a scouting mission into the wilds beyond the Fort, the Guardians discovered an unmarked grave containing not only the remains of a long-passed warrior, but also a number of artifacts steeped in mystery: a battered helm, fragments of a decayed journal, and a foreboding amulet.

It was then that the portal opened once more and World Walkers from across the realms poured onto the grounds of Fort Lyonhall. Together, the garrison and the World Walkers delved into the enigma of the grave and it’s implications.

The Bards worked diligently to translate the remaining fragments of the journal, revealing haunting narratives of friendship, betrayal, and a relentless pursuit of redemption. The Rangers uncovered vital clues that led to the revelation of heraldic symbols and ancient texts, while the Magi probed the artifacts for any magical properties.

Syr Danowyn, The Resolute

The breakthrough moment of the night came when the World Walkers successfully decrypted portions of the journal pages. It was discovered the book once belonged to Syr Danowyn, The Resolute - one of the twelve fabled knights of King Liam Jalraith. The translated texts chronicled the burdens carried by Syr Danowyn and his comrades after the Battle of Lightridge, and the subsequent defeat of the Dark Moon Cult, nearly five centuries ago.

The pages described their struggles against a cursed land, the long journey and hard paths they walked, and the regrets that lingered within their hearts - regrets that had once been lost to time, much like the battles that caused them. But it was the mention of an amulet made by the Dark Moon cult that forced the Citizens to realize the fearsome legacy of the lands they now called home - and it’s connection to Miscuri’s sordid past.

However, in a moment of serendipity, the Magi successfully identified the relationship between the artifacts. With the assistance of the World Walkers, together the Fort performed an incantation which granted Commander Alaric a profound vision and a glimpse into Fort Lyonhall’s desolate past - a land once barren and cursed, with a solitary figure beckoning a promise from the stars.

This vision proved transformative, informing the Fort of Syr Alaric's lineage to Syr Danowyn, and igniting a sense of purpose within him. To honor his ancestor’s legacy, Lady Ambrose Valenborne granted stewardship of Fort Lyonhall to Syr Alaric, granting him the title ‘Syr Alaric Grimwalde, Lord Commander of Fort Lyonhall’. The new Lord Commander humbly accepted the mantle, and the news sparked a renewed sense of responsibility and pride among the garrison as they recognized the weight of history resting upon their shoulders.

As the evening drew to a close, the camaraderie forged between the garrison and the World Walkers encapsulated a commitment to peel away the layers of mystery surrounding Fort Lyonhall. Many questions lingered: What had led Syr Danowyn to this distant land? Could there be more knightly echoes yet to surface? What lay hidden within the intertwining paths of the past and present?

A collective resolve emerged between the Citizens and World Walkers alike, ensuring their promise to seek answers and make sure the echoes of the past would resonate long into the future.
