Weapons

Currently, Beyond the Gates allows our guests to carry blunted metal weapons. ALL weapons - foam, wood, or otherwise - must be cleared by our staff during event check in. If a member of our Staff deems a particular item or weapon unsafe for the event, we reserve the right to ask you to return it to your vehicle, or allow our staff to check it into our storage area for the duration of the event.

Realistic looking guns are not allowed at Beyond the Gates events; this includes realistic guns with orange safety tips or other safety measures. Gun designs that are clearly replicas of pop-culture weapons (such as a Portal Gun or Gunblade) or fantastical in nature are allowed as long as they are provably non-functional and cleared by BTG Staff.

Throwing-styled weapons (shurikens, throwing knives, etc) are not allowed at BTG events.

Strung bows are allowed for costuming and photography purposes only. We do not currently have an archery range available, and as such there is no reason to fire your bow or other ranged weapon. You are welcome to carry either a strung weapon or the ammo for said weapon - but not both. You’re in a town, who fires a bow and arrow in the middle of a village street?

Weapons that have been cleared by our staff will marked with a zip tie, peace bond, or other highly visible and recognizable marker; foam weapons will not require this marker.

Masks

Full-faced masks, face paints, and prosthetics are allowed at Beyond the Gates events. We require any costume where a guest’s face is significantly obscured to submit a photo of their event appearance while holding a government issued I.D. or in the case of minors, alongside a parent or guardian and their government issued I.D. This photo will be taken on location by staff during event check in.

Outside Food & Drink

Outside food and drink are not allowed at Beyond the Gates events, with an exception for guest health and medical reasons; this includes “trinkets” that are meant to be consumed (EX: “potions”, sodas, cookies, “elixirs”, etc). BTG staff will have a limited selection of drinks and snacks available for purchase on site, in addition to our food vendors. Refillable water bottles are allowed, and there is a water fountain with a water bottle refill station attached to the bathrooms by the West Ticketing Gate.

We reserve the right to alter any of the above guidelines at any time if deemed necessary for the continued safety and enjoyment of our guests and staff.
